Are you tired, stressed, in pain, wish you could feel better? Of all the many types of pain relief, my choosing would be a luxurious massage at a spa. There seem to be so many options, between day spas, massage shops etc. Many of us have had many massages, but not everyone has considered having one. Your time may be here! You should try it now!
A massage spa treats aches, pains, bursitis, fatigue, high blood pressure. The list goes on, diabetes, immunity suppression, infertility, smoking cessation, depression, found what ails you yet? Try low back pain, maybe arthritis? All of these, as well as an immense number of other ailments can be treated with massage therapy. This is an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs. Millions throughout the world will attest, massage also helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living that can lead to disease and illness.
While a therapeutic massage is a long on-going process, usually performed in a clinic or doctor's office, a quick trip to your local spa is something easily done. It will refresh you, mind body and soul. A massage spa will offer such things as relaxing massage, a soothing facial, restorative body treatment, or combine therapies for a luxurious spa day. At these facilities, trained, certified and experienced therapists will see to it that you leave feeling relaxed and full of energy. Most spas have a great variety of massages they offer as well as different packages of massages. They might offer a basic, Swedish or relaxation spa, some specialize in a deep tissue massage, a sport or shiatsu massage, and reflexology. An ultra massage such as reiki, my facial, pre and post natal massages are usually available, while some of these involve further certification. Why not try a luxury massage that involves a body wrap, a warm/hot stone, cold stone and luxury shiatsu, why you can even have a double body works which is two therapists working at the same time.
In the early 1800's, massage therapy became very popular and this increased until the 1930's and 40's. As modern medicine developed, the benefits of massage therapy were discounted. It was used less and less. In the 1960's and 1970's nurses began to use it to alleviate pain in patients. Again, its popularity grew until finally in the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta massage was deemed a core medical service, which gave it great credibility. It's good enough for the Olympians, why not you?
Anyway, in order to find what suits you, you must try very many different types. Trying different massages sure beats researching different ones! You can seek by oil, method or culture! You may find that Lomi Lomi massage in Hawaii, Samoan, Shiatsu, Thai or even Chinese suits you better. If not, then maybe try Swedish Massage, which, incidentally in Sweden is known as classical massage.
No matter what the method you choose, you can rest assured, whatever the problem, from pain relief to anxiety, depression and a variety of diseases, you will find one to help. There is no way to blind-test massage therapy, as the person being tested is going to be touched, and we cannot deny that the sense of touch is very therapeutic by itself. Be sure to find your favorite massage spa, and what type of massage works best for you!
